Regularly care and maintenance is paramount if you have an interest in keeping the tree beautiful for a longer time. A well-groomed surface is easier and faster to clean. When cleaning the wood of the new bought product, it is recommended to use special natural wood soap for this matter. Follow the description of the mixing ration on the backside of the soap bottle. Apply the soap on the wood and scrub with a sponge along the wood grain until the wood appears clean. Repeat the cleaning if necessary. Carefully wash down the surface with water and remove any loose crisps with a stiff brush. Leave the wood to dry for approx. 24 hours. Remove rising fibers with sandpaper if necessary. The type of sandpaper recommended is 240-400 grit. . The wood must be completely dry before an oil treatment is applied. See section 2, application of oil.
1.1 Minor Scratches and Stains from Moisture
In case of scratches or stains from moisture, it is recommended to clean the stained area with warm water. Use the rough side of a sponge to clean the certain area and let it dry completely before any oil is applied. When the area is completely dry apply now linseed oil to the cleaned area with the rough side of a clean sponge. Scrub along the grains of the wood until the stain is no longer visible. If there is any redundant oil – dry it off with a clean dry cotton cloth no later than 5 minutes after the oil was applied. Let it dry for at least 24 hours and then polish the area with a fiber cloth. See section 3, final polishing.
2. Application of Oil
Stir the Oil thoroughly before use. Apply an even thin coat of oil with a sponge or a brush. Treat the end grain wood first. Make the application in dry weather only. Avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures.
3. Final polishing
If necessary, wipe off any excess oil with clean cotton cloths no later than 5 minutes after the oil was applied. It is important to remove excess oil from joints and grooves. Repeat the process in case the wood does not appear saturated. When the wood is dry, it may be polished with a polishing pad or polishing machine to ensure an extra hard-wearing surface. It takes 24 to 48 hours for the oil to harden completely, depending on weather conditions and outdoor temperature.
